Philanthropy in Focus: Ophthalmology Fund

Support today

In recent years, Marie had suffered from several health issues and had lost her eyesight. Her only wish was to be able to see her five-year-old grandson and three-year-old granddaughter again.

After a series of disappointing visits elsewhere, Marie and her husband, Tom, turned to Dr. Seth Pantanelli and the ophthalmology team at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. At first, Marie was only able to see shadows. Pantanelli performed cataract surgery on both eyes, and not long after, she had perfect 20/20 vision.

Marie’s wish came true.

Although she sadly passed away a few months later from other conditions, each time Marie hugged her grandchildren, she was able to look into their eyes and see the love returned.

Tom praised Pantanelli and his team for their kindness and skill. “Marie had given up hope until they came along. They are the best in their field, and they gave our family a wonderful gift during a difficult time,” Tom said.

When you give to support the Department of Ophthalmology at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, you help ensure the team has the equipment, technology and training they need to make more wishes come true.

Will you make a gift today to help other patients like Marie and her family? Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you!
