"These past several weeks have been heartbreaking as I discover more and more patients and their families with COVID-19 who do not have adequate food at home. They do not know how to maintain home isolation when they do not have anyone to bring food to them." - Susan Borys, MD, Internal Medicine
The coronavirus pandemic has shed new light on the problem of food insecurity in central Pennsylvania. Faculty and students at Penn State College of Medicine have partnered with Penn State Health's Community Relations Team and community food pantries, like the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the Caring Cupboard of Palmyra, to help people and families at risk.
